Walk In / Here You Are is excited to host Guimauves and the return of Collage Collage! The theme is WEATHER and we’ll be there come rain or shine!

GUIMAUVES is interdisciplinary artists Lyndsay Sung and Rafael Tsuchida. Vancouver’s favourite Asian synth pop art performance duo. They create music and performances for children, crazy and non crazy people, animals and especially cats.

COLLAGE COLLAGE will follow the performance with a fun art project for families. Last time we built cityscapes attached to Walk In/Here You Are, this time we’ll be exploring weather, come make crafts with us!

KELLARISSA & MAGNETICRING

Kellarissa is Larissa Loyva, a musician from Vancouver, BC. Utilizing a loop pedal and her prized synthesizer, Candied Yam, Kellarissa attempts to recreate the music she hears in her head. Kellari…ssa is Finnish for “in the basement”. Think shag rugs, red lampshades, cocktail hour and muumuus. Kellarissa’s second album for Mint records is currently being recorded by Josh Stevenson.

Joshua Stevenson is a Sound Artist/Musician from Vancouver. Working primarily with vintage synthesizers & analog equipment. Incorporating influences ranging from Javanese Gamelan, esoteric rock, early new age, and 60′s electronic music. A longstanding figure in Vancouver’s underground music scene, Joshua has performed, collaborated and toured with numerous artists/groups from Vancouver, New York City, Montreal, Portland & Finland. Currently he performs in Vancouver with group “Von Bingen,” Solo under the name “Magneticring” and appears on the Finnish group Kemialliset Ystävät’s new record released this month.

connect_icut is an English abstract electronica artist living in Vancouver, Canada whose music mixes generative processes and the creative use of digital audio errors with live improvisation and a vague pop sensibility. connect_icut has released one CD (Moss, Dehausset, January 2005) and two vinyl LPs (LA – An Apology, CSAF, March 2007 and They Showed Me the Secret Beaches, CSAF, July 2008). connect_icut is also involved with Interim Lovers, The Bastion Mews and Not Me.

Summer movie nights!

Please join us for a series of outdoor movie screenings. We are showing movies that were filmed or set in the city of Vancouver, where the cities’ architecture is prominently featured or thinly veiled.
Movies are all free! Bring a blanket and a folding chair and enjoy the summer evening with us at Walk In/Here You Are, located on the North Plaza of the Vancouver Public Library.

COLLAGE COLLAGE kids craft afternoon: Cityscapes

We are excited to host COLLAGE COLLAGE at WALK IN/HERE YOU ARE. Children and their parents are invited to come create cityscapes out of cardboard, foam core and construction paper. Using the existing benches as the base, children will work with their parents to use masking tape and zap straps to attach cardboard buildings and vehicles. By the end of the afternoon, we’ll have a construction paper city surrounding each bench.
